NYT Confirms That Chinese Tattoos Ain't All They're Cracked Up To Be

In a hilarious (if sort of obvious) story in Sunday's Styles Of The Times section, the New York Times has observed that many non-Chinese speaking Americans have gotten what they believed to be deeply profound and personal tattoos of Chinese characters only to find out later that the symbols are either meaningless gibberish or simply something else altogether. It's an irony since most die hard tattoo fanatics quickly dispense with the deeply meaningful in their body art and go directly towards the nonsensical, absurd or dadaist inkwork.
