Artist Judy Werthein has created a limited edition trainer called Brincos with the goal of aiding illegal immigrants from Mexico and Latin America on their clandestine journey across the border into "El Norte"

As quoted on Fabrica's blog, the artist designed the shoe to aid the user not just by protecting from snakebites and other trail-related hazards, but also includes a compass, flashlight, storage pouch for painkillers like aspirin, and the footbed even includes a map detailing popular routes across the border.
