After all these sacrosanct holidays this month, April in NYC is going to get really interesting, thanks in no small part to the Bent Festival, a multi-day event "celebrating the art of modifying existing circuits (and creating new ones!) for the purpose of creating music, art, and mischief."
While EMERGE isn't totally floored by dudes making 8 bit music with hacked Speak N Spells, there is some really interesting stuff to come out of this scene creatively, and, in an era when anybody with a cell phone has become a filmmaker, it's refreshing to see some DIY activity that still requires some expertise. And luckily for those with the interest and no idea how to use a soldering iron, Bent Festival offers loads of workshops and how-tos for the novice.
