The web is atwitter today with the announcement of SONGBIRD, an open source desktop media player that can search any and all media on the interent including pay-per-download sites, p2p networks and free mp3s.

Currently Songbird is only available for PC, but support for other operating systems is forthcoming. Buzz is so ferocious at the moment that Songbird's site is totally overloaded.
