Gotta Love Arcade Fire

Sure they were last year's too-cool-for-school indie buzz band, but Arcade Fire deserved all the accolades from bloggers, journos, record store nerds and legends like Davids Byrne and Bowie. Funeral remains one of the most intriguing indie rock records of recent years; ubiquity has done little to diminish it's off-kilter charm.

While EMERGE would have been really excited to see the rumored collaboration between the band and James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem come to fruition on their forthcoming sophomore album, we're very pleased to hear that the band has teamed up with Project Red to help fight AIDS and other diseases in the developing world.

According to PR Insider (one of our favorite publications...), Red's honcho Bono personally approached the band to donate a song to the ambitious and successful campaign on behalf of the Global Fund. The band has signed away the song "Liars" to Project Red, which will allow the campaign use of the song and will presumably involve a revenue sharing situation whereby royalties from album sales and radio play will also go towards fighting AIDS.
