Barcelona/New York based graphic-arts collective Maxalot (who we wrote about before) is back at it again in Williamsburg with their collaborative Vs series with Commonwealth, a forward-looking architecture and design firm. Beginning on November 11, Maxalot's latest show, Closer opens at the Espeis Gallery. Featuring a collaborative project between EMERGE favorite Kenzo Minami and Commonwealth, the show promises to be a landmark in the New York-based illustrator's career. With the Vs series focus on exploring what happens when "the brutality of architecture, and the insane precision found in the digital arts meet in a heated merger of influence, and technique.
Industrial modes of digital prototyping allow the results of these design amalgamations to be carried through to the final stages of production resulting in authentically digital material objects."
Featuring a modular wall of 3-D textured tiles blending Minami's highly linear graphic sensibility and the organic topographies of Commonwealth's work, Closer looks to be a pretty interesting exhibition. Opening night DJ Prince Language simply adds to the appeal.
