Last year, Chivas recruited a husband and wife from Miami to become Life Ambassadors and travel the world for six months in search of "extraordinary moments in inspiring locations" which were posted online in an interactive travelogue (I'll call it a "blogue") as they journeyed to Peru, Scotland, Jordan, Thailand, South Africa, Bora Bora and Australia amongst others. Getting $100,000 for the pleasure of seeking the world for the most incredible people, places and experiences possible, Bill and Dana became brand ambassadors out to have a conversation with the world about what constitutes the good life. They described their experience as "the best job in the world" and with good reason!
This year, the whole shebang has gotten even bigger. Not only has the purse doubled to $200,000 but the length of the Chivas sojourn has been extended to a full twelve months. And they've made it easier to apply for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. An application (downloadable from here) and a video can be submitted, or hopeful duos can drop by one of the pop-up Chivas Studio's in New York, Dallas, Miami, Chicago and Los Angeles and do an in-person audition.
As far as contests go, it would appear that "the world's smoothest whisky" has in fact come up with the smoothest package. That said, what is the upside in all of this adventure for Chivas? With the NYC Studio date just over a week away, there is little in the way of promotion happening. And EMERGE had never heard of last year's campaign until the announcement of this year's version crossed our desk. With such a great story on its hands, why isn't Chivas making more of this contest?
