Mark Our Words... She's Gonna Be Big

EMERGE isn't in the business of corporate or even creative prognostication. We're supposed to call it like we see it and in this circumstance, we're seeing big things for a not so big rapper from Chcago. Kid Sister may be named after a very corny toy from the 80s, but she's very much on the come-up, to use a bit of 90s era rap slang.

The older sister of acclaimed Chicago party rocking DJ J2K of Hollertronix-like tageteam Flosstradamus, this twenty-something emcee may be new to the game of rhyming, but inexperience isn't an obstacle these days, it's an asset.

Citing everything from her brother's wildly popular freeform DJ nights to a childhood spent lovng musical theater as influences, Kid Sister has carved out some impressive buzz for herself regionally, sharing the bill with EMERGE-approved acts like The Presets and getting a chance to rock the Biz 3 stage at this past Summer's Pitchfork Festival. But things are starting to bubble out outside the Windy City. She is featured on this week's episode of MTV's My Block special devoted to Chicago's rap scene and she's been remixed by XXXChange, the producer for Philadelphia's breakout alt-rap star Spankrock.

The rumor is that a record deal is imminent and we'll all be hearing lots more about Kid Sister in the months to come...
