Three Recommendations

Among EMERGE's preferred online destinations are a number of music-oriented sites, which range from questionably legal MP3 blogs offering little more than pirated files to audition and download, to questionably legal MP3 blog offering extensive criticism, context and analysis of pirated files to audition and download.

Somewhere in the midst of this continuum lies Music For Robots, a superb standard-bearer of the MP3 blogosphere that showcases and contextualizes an eclectic array of left-field pop music and has become one of the most influential online arbiters of musical cool. Not only does EMERGE find great stuff to listen to on MFR, we learn a little something about the artist and song while doing so. And not even the RIAA opposes learning. At least not yet...

To innaugurate a new series of regular recommendations from EMERGE's extensive network of tastemaking coolguys and influential influencers from around the globe, we asked MFR's Mark Robot for three records that are currently rocking his world, which during work hours tends to center on hustling up press coverage for an incredible roster of musical talent represented by LA's Motormouth Media. Here's what's making this Robot shake his tin booty this week:

1. My Morning Jacket "Okonokos"

2. Darkel "Darkel"

3. Whitest Boy Alive "Dreams"

Expect more recommendations in the coming weeks, ranging from great web resources to cool movies, artists, clothing labels, stores, restaurants and lord knows what else.
