The terribly named JellyNYC, an events production company, has come up with a terrific series of live music events. Utilizing the McCarren Park Pool, a disused public pool said to be among the largest ever built, Jelly kicked off The Pool Parties this past Saturday on July 9.

With lineups including: alt-rapper Beans with Holy Fuck, the always rowdy Les Savy Fav, Sabbath-sounding Dead Meadow, synth-rockers Moebius Band, EMERGE band Of Montreal, The Detroit Cobras, Deerhoof, and dj sets from ?uestlove and The Rub, as well as days curated by the likes of ASCAP, The Tripwire, and Stereogum, Pool Parties seem set to provide New Yorkers, both in the pool's immediate area (Williamsburg and Greenpoint, Brooklyn) and the city at large with a free and fun way to spend Sundays from 3pm-8pm.
