In a brilliant but puzzling move, Apple's iTunes music store is making issues of The Fader available as a podcasted PDF file for free, thanks to the gracious sponsorship of Southern Comfort. In order to ensure that the magazine is reaching as many interweb surfers as possible, there is an RSS feed available here or download the PDF itself here.

It's an interesting move overall, the PDF podcast format includes all the advertisements from the print edition and isn't nearly as satisfying to read, but then again, it's free and it beat the print edition to the streets by at least a week. Whether this new format for print publication takes off remains to be seen, but to EMERGE, it seems like a neat gimmick but not nearly as cool as a rich-media version of a graphically beautiful magazine as the Fader could be in digital form.
