SF-based photoblog and magazine Hamburger Eyes is up to issue #10 these days and to celebrate, the black and white photo journal/album/diary devoted to exploring the "unseen and iconic images of everyday life" is having an exhibiton inside Los Angeles' newest emporium of records and cool lifestyley gizmos and gewgaws Turntable Lab.
In addition to photography from the likes of Estevan Oriol, Tim Barber, Boogie, Dave Schubert, Tobin Yelland and lots more, there will be exceptional DJs, free beer and shopping opportunities galore.
Of course, almost more interesting than the photography itself, there's something remarkable about a hip hop record shop turned lifestyle outpost now getting into the gallery game. What does a move like this mean for traditional galleries? What about museums? Is the idea of merchandise curation so far removed from that of fine art curation?
There's only one way to know. Get ye to Fairfax and check out the show!
