NYC lifestyle hotels SoHo Grand and Tribeca Grand have launched the Grand Life website. An online magazine divided into sections devoted to art, music, film & theater, fashion, and dining & nightlife.
Each of these sections is further divided into features, new openings, favorites, and a section that describes the hotels' connection to these various scenes. A pet project of hotel creative director and unofficial mayor of downtown Tommy Saleh, GrandLife is the maturation of an idea that began as a printout for out-of-towners he would assemble and leave at the concierge desk called the "Grand Guide."
More than a simple resource for hotel guests or a way to promote events at the hotels, GrandLife is a way for these fashionable boutique hotels to extend their brand into the creative communities they already support through music, fashion and film events as well as art shows hung in the SoHo Grand's Gallery. It is the articulation of the lifestyle created and promoted by Saleh and the hotels, which has made them the lodging of choice for actors, designers, artists and musicians since opening in 1996 (SoHo) and 2000 (Tribeca). It is a platform from which to promote the enterprises of the hotel's friends and family, from the weekly rock club organized by sometimes Tribeca Grand door guy Spiky Phil to the latest issue of iD magazine, which regularly sponsors fashion week parties at the hotels.
