Sweden's Cult Band The Knife Sign to Mute Records for the US

Underground favorites, The Knife- the band that wrote EMERGE singer Jose Gonzalez's breakout Sony-soundtracking single "Heartbeats"- have not only returned with a new album entitled "Silent Shout" but a new recording deal with legendary imprint Mute.

Having sold out their first ever live tour just last month, anticipation is running high that this obscure duo from Stockholm can inject some edge into the normally staid world of synth-pop, which has been thoroughly reclaimed by Madonna over the past few months. Far more dark and bizarre, The Knife nevertheless write incredible pop songs layered with thumping percussion and unexpected melodic touches like steel drums.

The first single, already a number one hit in Sweden comes out in June here in the States, with the full album to follow in July.
