The Rapture Wrap Up Recording

Uber-cool NYC band The Rapture have wrapped up recording sessions for their latest album, tentatively titled "Pieces of the People We Love." After spending a grueling two years on the road virtually non stop, touring with the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Spektrum. The Cure, Interpol, Outhud, and Beans, the band took a year out of the spotlight to go back to the drawing board and write new material.

And from the extensive demo's EMERGE has heard as well as some early mixes, it's all been worth the wait. The Rapture have recorded with EMERGE producer-extraordinaire Paul Epworth, who worked in a NYC studio alongside acclaimed dance music whiz Ewan Pearson as well as in Los Angeles with Dangermouse, who roped in his Gnarles Barkely Coconspirator Cee Lo to do some back up vocals.

Long time fans will be happy that the band has stayed true to their disco-punk roots while allowing their sound to grow and mature, absorbing lots of elements of 70's rock, from groovy harmonies to less jagged guitar textures. Slated for a late-Summer, early-Autumn release, the Rapture's latest is sure to be one of 2006's most notable records and will undoubtedly put to rest the critical leitmotif that the band owed their sound solely to the involvement of much-hyped NYC production wizards The DFA on their last album, Echoes
